In 2010, A.J. Fletcher Foundation awarded a $250,000 grant to UNC-TV to continue production of an original series entitled ‘Biographical Conversations.” The grant was the latest installment in a 16 year history of funding the series which showcases extraordinary North Carolinians whose influence and vision have earned them national prominence and a place in history.

North Carolina has produced artists, writers, politicians, and athletes that have erupted onto the national scene. UNC-TV’s production captures one-on-one conversations and provides a rare and revealing look at storied North Carolinians.

The series pairs rare vintage and contemporary photographs with these revealing interviews to help viewers visualize the people, places, and events that defined the times of these treasured Tar Heels.

UNC-TV will premiere the latest chapter in the series on Sunday, May 11, at 6pm. ‘Biographical Conversations with Jim Gardner’ takes a look at the life of a North Carolina business entrepreneur and tireless political figure. Parts two and three of the program series will air at 6pm on May 18 and May 25, respectively, and all episodes, including previous ones, will be streamed and available online at video.unctv.org/program/biographical-conversations/.
