Chris Budnick, vice president of programs at The Healing Place of Wake County, came by to discuss his organization’s recent trip to Japan.
The Healing Place of Wake County combines the dual services of an overnight detox shelter and a substance abuse recovery center, a unique pairing that helps people avoid the emergency room or jail when they’re in need of immediate help. Designed in the image of a similar facility in Louisville, The Healing Place has been dedicated to safety, shelter, and hope to the men and women that walk through their doors. Recently, The Healing Place has been expanding their efforts by teaching people in recovery all over the world how to replicate their model. Chris Budnick sat down to explain how his own recovery brought him to The Healing Place and why their programs have seen success in communities across the globe.
